No tax withholding
- Maven does not withhold taxes from any payments.
- You are responsible for reporting and paying all applicable taxes on your earnings.
U.S. persons ($600 threshold)
- If you are a U.S. person and earn $600 or more in a calendar year:
- Maven is required to report your earnings to the IRS.
- You will receive a Form 1099 in January.
- You must complete a W-9 form to be eligible to receive payments.
Tax information requirements (W-9 and similar forms)
- You may be required to provide tax information:
- When approaching or exceeding the $600 threshold
- Before receiving any payment, regardless of amount (for compliance purposes)
- If required tax information is not provided:
- Payments cannot be processed
- Amounts over $600 may be forfeited if a W-9 is not submitted before year-end
Non-U.S. participants
- If you are not a U.S. person:
- You must certify your non-U.S. status when requesting payment
- You are responsible for handling all tax obligations in your local jurisdiction
